Azadi Ki Talash Mein – Independence Day Drama…

As India celebrates her 69th Independence Day today, commemorating the occasion, students from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam Campus presented a drama entitled – Azadi Ki Talash Mein (A Quest For Freedom) this evening in Sai Kulwant Hall.

The presentation, depicting Bhagawan’s point of view, highlighted the subtlety of India’s Freedom struggle, focusing on Swaatantrata – releasing the Atma from the clutches of maya.

The drama opened up with a panel discussion – “India Beckons”, portraying a discussion, almost seven decades after Independence, India Today. Even as the panel got busier dissecting and debating the national fabric in detail, the story took a detour towards the history of national independence, thus unfurling the historic-story in sequential details leading up to the momentous Aug 15, 1947.

Bhagawan in His Divine discourses has often reflected on the Independence story from a higher spiritual perspective, emphasizing on Swaatantrata and Swaarajya against mere winning of political freedom. Reflecting on this potential message, the presentation then, as a finale, illustrated Aurobindo Ghosh’s real freedom struggle, as acknowledged by Bhagawan.

Political freedom is not the destiny of India; the destiny of Bharat is to become the spiritual lighthouse of the entire world, resounded the great spiritual hero’s heartfelt voice, ruminating on a greater freedom, that which reflected the freedom of the soul.

Ringing in Rabindranath Tagore’s: “Into That Heaven Of Freedom, My Father, Let My Country Awake”, the presentation then came to a close, affirming the bottom line - Independence is Inner dependence.

Bhajans continued and the session ended with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
