Sathya Sai Institutions render timely service…

Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, symbolising Bhagawan’s motto, Love All Serve All, once again came to the fore, providing timely medical assistance to many injured admitted to the hospital after the rail mishap at Penukonda in the early hours of Tuesday, injuring many.

The accident happened when Bangalore-bound Hampi Express rammed a stationary goods train just outside the Penukonda Railway Station in the early hours of Tuesday, 22 May 2012.

Some of the injured were brought immediately to SSSIHMS and doctors and paramedical staff at the hospital swung into action delivering best possible service, completely free of cost. Personnel at the Orthopedics department, with the help of anesthetists and support of Blood Bank provided dedicated service since Tuesday morning attending and treating many injured patients with multiple fractures. People turned up in large numbers, willing to donate blood for the injured.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, State Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, Union Railway Minister etc.  visited the hospital yesterday evening, enquiring after the welfare of the injured. The ministers appreciated the service rendered by the hospital.

At the accident site, district unit of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations swung into action immediately. The District President of the Organisation at Anantapur mobilized over 50 Sevadals, which ultimately rose to 100 and rushed to the spot. The Sevadal force participated intensively in the rescue operations. Food and water were also brought and distributed to the passengers. Assistance in communicating with relatives was also promptly given.

The special training received by the Sai Sevadal volunteers in Disaster Management stood them in good stead on this occasion. It is recalled that a few years back, the Sai Organisation rendered similar service at the time of the railway disaster in Orissa.
