Grand Finale Of Prasanthi Vidhwan Mahasabha

After the grand culmination of the week-long Dasara Saptaha Jnana Yajna this morning, the other Yajna, Prasanthi Vidhwan Mahasabha came to a close this evening here, in the immediate Divine OmniPresence of Beloved Bhagawan. The highlight of the final session was a special musical treat entitled ‘The Sacred Chants’ by the combined duo Ms Vinaya Karthik Rajan and Ms Saindhavi.
The session commenced at 1640 hrs. with Vedic invocation by the tiny tots from Smt. Easwaramma High School. Sri Siddhartha Raju, Faculty Member and Research Scholar at Department Of English Language and Literature then presented a summary of the proceedings during the week-long Prasanthi Vidhwan Mahasabha. Touching upon the attribute of ‘sacrifice’ with reference to the just concluded Dasara Saptaha Jnana Yajna, Sri Siddhartha urged the august assembly to ponder over on the real sacrifice one should make. One should be careful as to what one should ask from Bhagawan, observed the speaker, sharing a beautiful anecdote, of a student with Bhagawan, that perfectly synchronises with the statement. He then introduced the ensuing musical session.
Bhagawan’s Divine discourse next was on the importance of Yama and Niyama. Divulging in detail on the subject, Bhagawan discoursed on the 5-values, namely, Ahimsa, Sathyam, Astheya, Brahmacharya and Aparigraha… i.e, non-violence, truth, non-covetousness, celibacy and non-possessiveness. The three paths paid down by the Vedas to follow the 5-values are Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnana Yoga, asserted Bhagawan.
A musical offering followed next, presented by Vinaya Karthik Rajan and Saindhavi, two of the promising modern voices from South India. The duo, accomplished in carnatic and playback singing, presented a series of strotrams, ably assisted by modern musical accompaniment. They began with a Ganesha Vandana, rendering Ganesha Pancharatna Strotram and flowed on presenting Daskshinamurthy Strotram, Medha Suktam, Shiva Panchakshari Strotram, Lingashtakam, Ramashtakam to name a few. The duo concluded with a mellifluous rendering of the famous Prasantih Bhajan, Hey Premamaya Bhagawan. Sarvasree Ragasimhan on Violin, Ravishankar on Keyboard, Praveen Kumar on Percussion and Sai Raghavan on Mridangam accompanied the artistes for the evening.
Bhajans continued and the session ended with Mangala Arathi.
