Holy Ramzan!!!

Completing a month-long austerity, abstaining from vices and luxuries, in search of Truth within, Allah…Muslims around the world celebrate Holy Ramzan today…What entails the Holy Festivity and how one should traverse the path towards Allah…writes Sairam Radhakrishnamurthy, expressing it poetically.

 

“No man hath believed perfectly until he wisheth for his brother that which he wisheth for himself.”

Prophet Mohammad

 

The children of the All – Merciful God, named ALLAH,

Unseen, yet Omnipresent,

Unable to bear His separation,

Decided to go on a fast,

Not a day or two but month long,

Negating even a pinch of saliva from dawn to dusk,

Absorbed in Him,

Gleefully celebrating every evening eagerly awaiting Him,

To abide in Him;

 

Prayers poured in,

Every prayer – a positive step towards Him,

The secret to attain Him – surrender,

Heads bowed down to enunciate total submission,

Out stretching their palms in humility and reverence

Signifying everything is His benevolence

All these to please Him, is the quintessence.

 

Their watchwords –

Determined decision, steadfast will and uninterrupted effort,

Rejuvenating themselves by refreshing before every prayer,

To induce a new ray of hope to smear;

The spiritual journey progressed and knowledge bloomed afresh

Allah, the Seed, the whole of creation His breed,

Understood tree in every Seed; Seed in every fruit of the tree

Analyzed and assimilated –

ALLAH is Mercy; Mercy leads unto ALLAH

Seeking Him is to please Him in varied forms

Purport of establishing Brotherhood of man and Fatherhood of God

 

The awakened jumped into action and voiced

Ending deliberations and announced celebrations

Sighting the new moon symbolizing a new horizon

Seeking ALLAH in every INSAAN

And thus dawned RAMZAN

The fruit of ALLAH MEHERBAAN (Mercy of Allah);

 

Celebrations began,

Leading humanity to Divinity attributed

To the poor the Mercy of ALLAH contributed.

His contribution continued with charity without disparity

Ceiling on desires in solidarity,

With hard earned money to soothe the hardened many

Bliss reigned – the offering, the offered and the one who offers

Prayers promising peace even to the rears credited

Foundation for Heaven on earth surmounted.

 

Hailed they –

ALLAH has come to earth this day,

Decided to follow the spirit of Ramzan everyday

For the whole of mankind to remain ever happy and gay.
