Mother’s Love; Love For Mother…

Projecting the lofty theme of ‘Mother’s Love; Love For Mother’ students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, New Delhi presented an emotion-packed drama entitled Matru Bhakthi this evening, on the eve of Easwaramma Day, here in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The presentation was organised commemorating the third anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, falls on the Easwaramma Day, 6 May.

The drama revolved around the aspiring life of a little girl, who nurtured the ambition to sing her best for her beloved earthly mother. Without any musical background, with her burning desire to do her best for her mother, whom she hailed as the best mother in the world, the girl subsequently earns admission in Saraswati Sangeet Vidya Mandir. Her claims that ‘my mother is the best mother in the world’ and ‘i want to sing my best for my mother’ were received cynically by a rude and harsh Principal.

Against all odds at home, with her mother deteriorating day-by-day suffering from cancer, the girl, despite all oddities at the school, wins the heart of her loving music teacher, Mrs Chatterjee.

Irregular at the class, with mother ailing back home, the child hardly gets any support at the school from the Principal.

Listening to her heart, reposing her faith in the little ‘helpless’ talented girl, Mrs. Chatterjee prevails over all oddities enrolling her for a national level competition.

Despite being absent for number of days owing to problems back at home, the girls appears at the venue in the nick of time, completely lost and  famished, remaining resolute to excel.  Promising to uphold the prestige of the institution the girl finally sings her heart out to her Beloved Mother, in front of a large audience, only to stand first in the competition.

The tragic twist of the story comes when the girl, as the winner, speaks a few words, this time breaking herself down. Revealing that her mother, who had been ailing over the period, of cancer, passed away the same morning, the girl seeks special permission from her teacher to sing a special song of love for her departed mother….and she sings “O Maa Pyaari Maa…” Being grateful for her all out support, the girl even offers the winner’s trophy to her teacher Mrs Chatterjee.

Pouring their hearts out the innocent children burst into singing Maa Oh Maa…Maa Sai Maa…ending the same with the refrain WE MISS YOU SAI MAA…!!!

The presentation was apt for the Easwaramma Day Eve, airing the theme of Matru Bhakti as often preached and practised by Beloved Bhagawan. The presentation was also vociferous of the teacher’s role, in handling children coming from varied background; treating them with great understanding and love.

Earlier, the programme commenced at 1720 hrs. after twenty minutes of Rudram chanting, with a Garhwali Dance by little children from Sri Sathya Sai School, depicting the spiritual and cultural glory of the Garhwal Himalayan region that houses two of the four Dhams, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Sri Sathya Sai School, Rishikesh is the 100th school enrolled under the Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini Scheme.

This was followed by a colourful dance, on the theme Vidya Vahini, by a group of girl students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, New Delhi.

Special prizes were given away to all the participants.

Bhajans by students continued and ended with a mellifluous bhajan as Sunday Special in Bhagawan’s Voice. Mangala Arathi was offered at 1840 hrs.
