Maha Rudrabhishekam and Akhanda Bhajan…

Night-long vigil of Shivarathri Akhanda Bhajan commenced this evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam. Earlier, commencing the evening proceedings, a Maha Rudrabhishekam was offered to the Saieeshwara Lingam. The Saieeshwara Lingam was blessed by Bhagawan’s Divine touch during the 2006 Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam.

The Lingam was brought to the Sai Kulwant Hall in a ceremonial palanquin procession to the escort of Veda chanting and Poornakumbham. The Rudrabhishekam was performed at a makeshift podium next to the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Lord Shiva Who Is Abhisheka Priya Is mightily pleased with sacred offerings. The Rudrabhishekam was offered with 18 different items, namely, milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, fruits, tender coconut water, flower, yellow rice, sandalwood paste, vibhuti, bilwa leaves, sugar candy juice, rudraksha, darbha grass, gold, turmeric, and kumkum (vermillion), with each offering carrying special spiritual significance.

Throughout the offering the Prasnthi environs echoed with chanting of sacred Vedic hymns, as  chantings continued , with Namakam and Chamakam followed by Sathya Sai Ashtotharam.

Before the concluding Mangala Arathi, the Saieeshwara Lingam was ceremoniously decked up, offering ‘Vastram’, clothes.

Mangala Arathi to the Saieeshwara Lingam at 1740 hrs. marked the culmination of the Maha Rudrabhishekam. Prof Nanjuda Dixit who officiated both the Ati Rudra Maha Yajnams at Prasanthi Nilayam and Chennai was the Chief Priest for the evening.

Bhagawan Divine discourse was then aired on the public address system. Bhagawan exhorted devotees to eschew all types of evil to reach Godhood. Absence of compassion has become a fashion today, said Bhagawan reminding devotees of the necessity to follow the path of Truth and Righteousness. Bhagawan concluded His Divine discoures with the bhajan “Premamuditha Manase Kaho Rama Rama Ram…”, marking the commencement of Shivarathri Global Akhanda Bhajan.

Even as Bhajans echoed in Prasanthi precincts on the resplendently glittering twilight, capacity audience of devotees were blessed with spriklings of sacred Rudrabhisheka Teertham.
