Ugadi Celebrated…

Marking the advent of the Telugu New Year, Manmadha Nama Samvatsara Ugadi devotees from the Parthi Yatra group of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – Hyderabad offered special programmes spanning into three session on 21st & 22nd March here in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Commencing the proceedings on the Ugadi morning, Sri Gopikrishna Pidathala, Coordinator for the Parthi Yatra Group, Hyderabad, introduced the session welcoming the august assembly to the New Year’s festive session. The speaker recollected the nostalgic beauty of earlier years when Bhagawan would ‘celebrate’ the occasion at Shivam, to continue His stay until Rama Navami. Sri Sarvottamudu, an alumnus of Sri Sathya Sai University, talking on behalf of the Hyderabad Group, then introduced the ensuing session, reflecting on the unprecedented glory of the Sri Sathya Sai Avatar.

Panchanga Pravachanam (recitation of religious almanac pertaining to the coming year) followed next, done by noted Brahmasri Kuppa Siva Subramanya Avadhani Garu, Project Officer & Principal at TTD Veda Paathasaala, Tirumala).

A talk by Prof Kamaraju Ratnakar, Chairman, Global Medical Research Foundation and Director of Global Hospitals, Hyderabad followed next. Prof Ratnakar chose to speak on the subject, “Knowledge Of The Self, A Treasure To Realise”. The learned speaker, speaking with at most modesty, spoke with elan, drawing messages from Bhagawan’s writings, aided by captivating stories giving the assembly food for thought and insight into the benchmark of Bhagawan’s ‘expectation’ of a devotee.

Bhagawan’s Divine discourse was then aired on the Public Address system.

The evening session was marked by a special Musical Offering led by popular musicians from Hyderabad Smt Nithyasanthoshini & Sri Nihal.

The Musical Feast, a compilation of Carnatic and devotional songs, spanned compositions in various languages –Shankarabharanamu in Telugu, Krishna nee begane baro in Kannada, and the popular Meera Bhajan Payoji Maine… in Hindi.  The artistes were accompanied by Kum Nithya Kalyani, Master Nilesh, Sarvasree Sashi Kiran and Sai Prabhakar on vocal, Sarvasree Guru Prasad, Sathya Srinivas, Venkat Srninivas, Sai Akhilesh, Tirumaladas and Sundar on Keyboard, Flute, Tabla (2), Dholak and Kanjira respectively.

The music session was preceded by a brief address by Sri Sarvottamudu, who briefed on the various service activities run by the Hyderabad Unit of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations followed by an introduction of the ensuing session by Sri Gopikrishna Pidathala.

The session continued with devotional rendering by the Sivam Bhajan Group of Hyderabad.

On Sunday, 22nd March morning, the Sivam Musical Group continued from where they had stopped on the previous evening presenting a mellifluous devotional session entitled ‘Sathya Sai Ganamrutham’.

Over 1500 devotees from Hyderabad have joined in this Ugadi Parthi Yatra for three days.

Bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
