Burra Katha on Shiva Parvathi Kalyanam…

Heralding the auspiciousness of supreme spiritual vibration that Prasanthi Nilayam perennially exudes, students of SSSIHL presented a ‘Burra Katha’ on the Celestial ‘Story’ of Shiva Parvathi Kalyanam this evening here, in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Incidentally, in 2010, when the Celestial Wedding was organised in the immediate Divine Presence, Bhagawan HimSelf had suggested and organised a Burra Katha on the sidelines of the Divine Wedding.

As is their wont, students this evening excelled in all departments presenting a mesmerising – captivating spiritual evening presenting the story of Eternal Divine Parents – Lord Shiva and Mother Parvathi in the immediate Divine OmniPresence.
Burra Katha is a popular story-telling format of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana that focuses on presenting serious matters in an easily understandable manner with a touch of humour. It consists of three artistes, one the Kathakudu (Story Teller), the Rajakiya (Political Analyst) and the Hasyaka (Humourist). The trio for this evening were Sarvasree VS Anant, AVR Murthy, Guru Santosh as Kathakudu, Rajakiya, and Hasyaka respectively.

The Burra Katha story was originally written by Sri Krishna Bhaskar of BHEL, who had the rare blessing of conducting Burra Katha sessions for Bhagawan during the early years.

The students ended with a mellifluous ‘Burra Katha’ bhajan singing “Anandame Sai Bhajana…” bringing the curtain down for a most enchanting evening.

Bhajans continued and the session ended with Mangala Arathi at 1810 hrs.
