Blessed Sri Krishna Janmashtami…

Droplets Of Adoration reverentially glorifying The Beauty Beyond Compare Bhagawan Sri Krishna, Who made His ‘Timeless’ Advent over 5000 years ago in the Dwapara Yuga, marked the auspicious Sri Krishna Janmashtami morning today, in Prasanthi Nilayam. Sri Krishna Janmashtami has been a rich festive tradition in Prasanthi Nilayam for decades, celebrated with traditional ‘gaiety and piety’ marked with great devotional fervour.

The programme this morning commenced at 0820 hrs with the percussion band from the Institute playing some melodic instrumental tunes. A stream of devotionals followed next, ranging from Madhurashtakam…  to  Challagaalilo Yamuna Thatipai… to Jagadodhdharaka… to Bhavayamee Gopalabalam… to name a few. Little ones from the Easwaramma English Medium School enthralled the Divine next , beautifully recapturing the early life of the Little Divine during the gokulam days of yore, dancing merrily to the tune of the evergreen devotional ‘Jagadodhdharaka’, sung in an enchanting ‘little’ voice. Higher Secondary students followed suit, presenting another beautiful dance number.

Even as the session meandered through with rare melodic devotional beauty engulfing the holy precincts, the colourful Gokulam Procession arrived at the Sanctum Sanctorum escorted by the Nadaswaram and Vedam troupes from the Institute. The quadrupeds ushered in included cows and calves, deers, rabbits, peacocks, doves and the canine ‘Jolly’ from senior boys’ hostel. The cows covered with newly made embroidered, multi‑coloured silk duppattas, were led by batches of students.

Trustees and Ashram seniors joined in, feeding the ‘guests’, a tradition Bhagawan ‘HimSelf’ would ‘follow’ in Person, on every Krishnashtami occasion.

After a short stint of bhajans, Bhagawan’s exhilarating Divine discourse followed. Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan marked the end of the morning proceedings.
