Music College Boys Regale With Twin Themes…

When two grand occasions combined together on a single day, Sri Krishna Janmashtami and the National Independence Day, feasting the occasion, blossoming buds from the Sathya Sai Mirpuri College Of Music offered a musical entitled “Sai Gopala – Deshapalak” this evening here, in Prasanthi Nilayam. Beginning with a patriotic number, the programme for the next more than an hour had alternate tunes set to the twin themes of Sri Krishna Janmashtami and National Independence Day.

Commencing the session with a patriotic number, Jayati Jayati Bharata Mata…, the next song was a Veena Instrumental, playing “Jagadodhdharana…”, famed Purandaradasa Carnatic number. Another patriotic number capturing the incomparable ‘nationalistic’ beauty of the Indian hearts, singing “Desh Hamare… Yeh Desh Hamare…”, was followed by a Malayalam number, “Chandana Charchita Neela Kalebaram…” on the Lord Of Guruvayoor.

As the session flowed on, next came a scintillating Tabla ensemble presenting a mix of Uthan, Kaida of Punjab Gharana, Tukdas, Chakradars and Rela to the accompaniment of ‘Lehera’ Instrumental Sitar, playing a melodic tune set to Teentaal followed by an enchantingly heart-wrenching Sufi number, “Sawre Ko Dil Mein BasaKar Toh Dekho…” , a Carnatic number on the BalaKrishna pranks, “Alokya Sree BalaKrishnam…” in Raag Adi, set to Aditaal, a Hindustani number featuring a Ragamalika Bandish Medley comprising eight bandishs…singing “Narahara Narayana Gopal…” before the grand finale, a patriotic song, “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon…” recapitulating the incomparable beauty of sacrifice by many an Indian soldier, who chose to be Immortal Indian Patriots…laying down their lives for the greater national cause.

Bhajans next ended with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
